The 2020 RPS awards were held in a special digital presentation on 18 November featuring performances filmed at London’s Wigmore Hall. The RPS said “Winners represent a nation of inspirational musicians: cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, raised in Nottingham, receives the Young Artists Award for captivating listeners worldwide….”. You can watch the ceremony in full here on the RPS website.

During the presentation, Sheku said “It’s such an honour to win this award and to receive it in person in the Wigmore Hall, which I’ve enjoyed performing in a few times.  I would like to thank my teacher Hannah Roberts and my parents in particular for supporting me since I was very, very young so thank you, and thank you to the Royal Philharmonic Society for the Award.”
