Saint-Saëns – Concerto for Cello and Orchestra No. 1 in A minor Op. 33
VENUE NOTE
British rising star Sheku Kanneh-Mason, a promising scion of arguably London’s most exciting musical family, returns with Saint-Saëns’ elegant Cello Concerto. His unprecedented career began with his emergence as the surprise winner of the television show Britain’s Got Talent and his subsequent performance by moving millions of viewers to tears at the last major royal wedding. Not exactly the usual path for a young graduate of the Royal Academy of Music… Yet the likeable musician and football fan has remained down-to-earth and approachable, enjoying playing music with his six siblings as much as with the world’s best orchestras – such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, which enriches the romantic concert evening with Rachmaninoff’s Third Symphony.
