Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason’s latest book, To Be Young, Gifted and Black, has been named the winner of the Best Non-Fiction Adult Award at the 2026 Diverse Book Awards.

The awards ceremony took place on 22 October at Waterstones Piccadilly, celebrating outstanding diverse voices in publishing across the UK and Ireland.

Founded by author Abiola Bello and publicist Helen Lewis, the Diverse Book Awards recognise and champion the breadth of diverse voices in both traditionally and independently published books.

As part of the celebrations, Kadiatu will join fellow award winners for a special panel discussion at Waterstones Piccadilly on 20 January 2027.
