Experience an evening of powerful music and storytelling that gives voice to refugee experiences and honours the resilience of those forced to flee.
Braimah Kanneh-Mason, Odyssey Ensemble, Corvus Consort, and Refugee Poets come together for a programme using bird flight as a poignant metaphor for refugee migration.
At the heart of the programme is Christopher Tin’s The Lost Birds, a haunting elegy for extinct bird species, symbolising the loss and longing of refugees worldwide. Kanneh-Mason’s violin performance of Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending captures the fragile beauty of freedom, while Mendelssohn’s O for the Wings of a Dove deepens this exploration of flight and yearning. A newly commissioned work, co-created with refugee poets, bookends The Lark Ascending, reflecting on exile and survival.
Animation and artwork by a refugee artist will also be featured in the performance, amplifying stories of migration, loss, and hope.
Join us for a deeply moving and unforgettable journey.
